The determination of the time the ball needs to fall inside the metal tube provides information about the viscosity. Therefore the metal tube is completely filled with oil, turned over and placed on the mirror surface. The falling-time of the ball stands in direct relation to the viscosity of the liquid. For determine the lower viscosity for mineral- or gasoil the Viscometer LOWVIS should be use; for all other oils please use the STANDARD version

When the VISCO CYLINDER is turned on it is placed on the mirror to recognize if the ball reaches the ground. Afterwards the device is turned over and the falling ball passes the sensors which measure the falling time and the temperature of the sample automatically. The result is immediately readable on the display. The measurement has to be done 5 times and the last four results are important to get the arithmetic average. The enclosed V-T Diagrams give help to interpret the viscosity test results.
